[Nevermind the logistics of it. It's the visual threat that matters. As for the comment about her camping out where anything could attack without warning...]
That's the point. Good for you for figuring it out. Maybe you're not as much of an idiot as I originally pegged you for.
You think I want just any asshole just wandering into my camp?
Hell no! Keeps stupid fucks from even thinking about it with all the shit that's been going on.
[Even though Kainé has taken point, she's still keeping careful tabs on the other woman, in case she really does need help.
The necklace intrigues her though, and her immediate thought is whether it might have been a gift. Something special, like her own Lunar Tear hair ornament.
Which she received from one of the only people who ever accepted her, regardless of what she is. The important thing was who she is.
Even if he didn't know the whole of it. Somehow, she knows without a doubt, that he'd accept that too.
A pang of regret hits her as she remembers their separation. "I've got my own shit to do. Personal shit." is what she had said.
And then she walked away, just like that.
Because no matter how much she wanted to, she couldn't stay with them. She couldn't infringe on their happiness when he and his sister had finally been reunited. There was no way the village would accept her.
She couldn't risk hurting him or taking the only family he had left.
It was a pipe dream for others; not for someone like her.
Since their separation, she's been lonely, with only the Shade's shit talk to keep her company. Not that she'd ever admit it.
But no matter how much she tried to distract herself by concentrating her efforts on her own survival, or even just killing Shades for something to do to keep herself from being restless, the fact of the matter is, she misses him.
Subconsciously, she glances back at Jade, a tiny spark of hope over something she dare not linger too long on, flickers from somewhere within her.
Instead, she yells over her shoulder with mock irritance.]
God you're so fucking slow! Am I gonna have to carry your pansy-ass along with all this shit, the whole way to back to camp?!
[There. That should help bury any possibility of that happening.
Thankfully, the whole time she's pondering this, Tyrann knows what's good for him and keeps his goddamn trap shut!
Once they reach the crumbling gap in the wall that Kainé had entered through, she glances back at Jade one last time to make sure she's still handling herself OK, and steps outside.
The cool air, despite the rain and dreariness and what usually comes with it, feels nice, clean and relaxing after being cooped up in the bandits' hideout. She slows to a halt when they're a good distance away, amber eyes scanning their surroundings.
Something's off.
Nothing looks familiar. Not to mention they traveled way too long without a Shade attack. Kainé grumbles and expresses her bewilderment aloud.]
What the actual fuck?
[She had been looking forward to plopping her ass down and stuffing her face with their haul.
Kainé has an annoying feeling that it's gonna be awhile.]
